Bereavement Ministry:

This ministry assists bereaved families by planning and participating in vigil and funeral services; being a support during the grieving process; and planning a yearly Remembrance Liturgy.  Ministers participate in a formation process and monthly meetings of support and enrichment.

Blood Drive:

Twice/yar: St Theresa Parish joins in the Life Source Blood Services' appeal.  A mobile unit offers and opportunity to donate blood and to help on the day of the drive.

Child Care:

A list of women providers is available for families seeking care for infants and children, either in the child's or the sitter's home.

Clothing Drive:

Spring and Fall: The St. Vincent De Paul Society accepts good used clothing for the needy. Volunteers help load the trucks on assigned weekends.

@HomeMatters:

Trained volunteers spend time each week with omebound and elderly parishioners to provide companionship for them and to allow rest and relief for family members.

Communion to the Sick and Homebound:

Caring and trained parishioners bring Communion and love to the homebound and to nursing home residents.  Ministers participate in enrichments programs.

Food Pantry

3rd Sunday of the month: In collaboration with Holy Family Pantry, canned food and paper products are collected for families on an emergency basis. Food is shared with Mission Juan Diego, St. Joseph Home for the Elderly, and P.H.D.

Funeral Luncheon Hospitality

This ministry offers a luncheon to bereaved families after funerals.  Volunteers bring a dish, set up, and serve the lunch. Also needed are phone callers.

Furniture

In a joint effort with Immanuel Lutheran Church, good used furniture is received and offered to families in need.

The Giving Tree

Advent/Christmastime: The ministry of Care, Liturgy Committee, and Knights of Columbus invite parishioners to relaize the true meaning of Christmas - through the custom of a Giving Tree. Money received is used for gift certificates to purchase food, clothing, and toys for poor families during the holy season.

Hospital Ministry

Volunteers visit hospitalized parishioners to bring the parish community's love and concern by praying with patients when it is appropriate, listening in a caring way, and being alert to needs.

Ministry of Praise

These ministers are the sick, the shut-ins, and seniors who serve God and the parish through prayers and love for all of our intentions.  They energize the life of the parish!

Parish Emergency Assistance Resourcing (PEAR)

PEAR is a computer network of congregations united to offer compassionate, confidential emergency assistance to people in poverty who live in their parish communities and to transients, as resources allow.  PEAR is facilitated by the Dept. of Parish Social Ministry and Catholic Charities.  Through grants and FEMA funding, thousands of dollars have been received since 1993.

Plum Grove Nursing Home

This facility provides loving care to the sick and the elderly.  Volunteers help by setting up for Mass, visiting residents, feeding them, helping with parties, and assisting with other activities.

Public Action to Deliver Shelter (P.A.D.S)

October to April: This is an ecumenical community effort to offer emergency shelter to the homeless at local churches.  Volunteers provide food and a place to shower, rest, and be safe.  Other volunteers cook and serve meals, clean, or do the laundry. Commitments are for one shift/month: 6:30 pm to 11:00 pm; 11:00 pm to 3:00 am; 3:00 am to 7:00 am; and 7:00 am to 8:30 am.

Resurrection Choir

Part of the Bereavement Ministry is the Resurrection Choir, composed of men and women who share their love and concern by singing at funeral and memorial liturgies. New members are always welcome. There are no rehearsals.

St. Theresa Individual Needs

As emergency needs arise, Deacon Norys confidentially assesses requests and directs individuals to specific programs or cummunity agencies.  Thousands of dollars are donated yearly by generous parishioners to provide food, clothing shelter, medical assistance, etc.

St. Vincent De Paul Society

Members provide emergency help to families unable to pay rent, utilities, and medicine bills.  They also meet with the needy persons in their homes to provide emotional and spiritual support.
